SIH’s Think On These Things: Psa 23:2

(Psa 23:2) - He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

For the Christian, two of the most overlooked gifts of grace are peace and rest.  Through the work of Christ on the cross, we can rest knowing we are at peace with Him and are being held secure by Him.

In Psa 23:2, the Psalmist centered on these two gifts.  To be “led beside still waters” speaks of the peace that we are given when we follow His path to salvation and Godly service. To be “made to lie down in green pastures”, speaks of the rest we can enjoy knowing we are at peace with Him.

Do you know that your sins have been forgiven and you are in a right standing with God?  This is the first step to being able to rest and be eternally protected in Him.

May the Lord bless each one of us as we “Think On These Things”.

This was such a revelation when I became a Christian. There was no such thing as complete forgiveness in Catholicism. While forgiveness was granted, and penance was performed, that sin wasn't wiped out: purgatory still waited. On going to confession, if a 'mortal' sin had not been committed since the previous confession, a past 'mortal' sin had to be confessed along with the current 'venial' sins.
What a blessing it was to realise, after conversion, that my confessed and forgiven sins were completely gone! In fact, if I mentioned a previous sin to God, He would say, "My child, you must be mistaken. I have NO RECORD of that happening."
Thank You Lord for the gifts of grace, peace and rest!

Rob I have given you another award - the Candle Lighters Award, because you have shed so much light on the Scriptures here on your blog. Details can be found on my blog, but there are no rules to follow. Just accept the award and place it on your site.

  2. Angela,

My wife used to be Catholic, so I understand alot of what you are saying. What a blessing it is when we come to an understanding of the truth about our Lord and how He works in our lives.. One of the greatest blessings we have is knowing that we are saved and certain we are going to spend eternity with our Lord.

    Lord bless you, Rob
