SIH’s Think On These Things: Matt 6:13b

(Mat 6:13) but deliver us from evil:…

As fallen mankind, our lives are imprisoned by our own evil sinfulness much like an explorer is trapped and held by quicksand. We are facing eternal, spiritual death and cannot remove ourselves from this horrible situation.  Our only hope of deliverance is found in the Lord.  He is the One that can reach down and pull us out of sin’s punishment, power and even its very presence (in eternity).

Let’s come before the Lord in a spirit of helplessness and submission, realizing, without His intervention in our lives, we are ensnared by our own sinful desires and awaiting eternal ruin.

May the Lord bless each one of us as we “Think On These Things”.

  1. I am blessed as I rest in His Loving Arms. Anywhere else would, by definition, be utterly dark.

  2. Left to myself I would have NO option but to obey the devil. I would be hopeless, totally unable to resist the temptations of the world, but drawn along in its fast-moving current.

"But God" - these two words [as in Ephesians 2:4 and other places] make all the difference!

Praise God for His work in my life in removing me from the kingdom of darkness and placing me in His kingdom [Colossians 1:13] and for His continuing work in me, 'delivering me from evil'

    What an amazing God!

  4. Amen Rob! We must also remember that to get out of that "quicksand" we must REPENT or turn away from Sin AND ask the Lord forgiveness. Too many times people skip the repentance part, thinking that it is enough just to ask God for forgiveness. Without doing our part, God cannot do His because We must repent to be saved, as God cannot dwell with Sin and until we repent, our sin stays with us. I'm still loving these "Think on these things"!
    God Bless,

  6. Angela,

The Lord has removed us from the power of darkness, is currently removing us from the power of darkness and will, someday, remove us form the very presence of darkness. Praise His name!

    Lord bless you.

  7. PJ,
It is just as you say... our holy God cannot stand in the presence of sin... that is what is so great about the work of Christ on the cross. His shed blood has washed away all of our sins past present and future. We are secure in His hands.

Heb 10:10-12 (KJV) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all]. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God

Do you know what the amazing thing is... the repentance that the Lord commands from us is actually a work of His grace in our lives! We can't repent without Him leading us to repentance and granting us the abilitiy to repent. What an amazing God we serve!

    2Tim 2:25 (KJV) In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

    Lord bless you,
    Thanks for the great comments!
