1Co 15:12-15 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? (13) But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: (14) And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. (15) Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
One of the popular teachers of the day were the Sadducees. They denied the existence of life after death and all other related teachings such as resurrection of the body, and eternal rewards etc etc. Apparently this doctrine had slipped into the Corinth church.
Paul, in opposition to this false teaching reminds the Corinth church of the importance of the doctrine of the resurrection. He makes the argument that if there is no life after death, followed by a bodily resurrection then, logically, there would be great repercussions to our entire belief system. Here is Paul’s reasoning:
- If there is no resurrection of the dead; then Christ is not risen from the dead.
- If Christ be not risen from the dead; then the gospel that we preach is worthless.
- If the gospel we preach is worthless; then our faith in Christ and His work is worthless and we are liars.
Let’s thank our Lord that His resurrection IS THE TRUTH! Our faith is not vain, we are speaking the truth!
May the Lord bless each one of us as we “Think On These Things”.

ReplyDeletePraise God for the proof of the resurrection, not just in historical facts, but in the REALITY of His presence in our lives, and the change that enables us to walk in His resurrection power.
ReplyDeleteIf God had not raised Christ from the dead, our faith would be useless, because it would mean that His sacrifice was not enough to pay the penalty for our sins. The fact of the resurrection proves that Christ's sacrifice was totally effective and accepted by God.
Great post, Rob . ..and so celebrating that truth today, that He is indeed risen and alive! God bless you as you celebrate His truths each day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment. Lord bless you!
ReplyDeleteAMEN! I thnk sometimes we have a tendency to center on Christ's work on the cross without even mentioning His resurrection. Both are vital truths that have direct bearing on our salvation. Thanks again for your comments, Angela! Lord bless you
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debbie... Lord bless you as you remember His death and resurrection over the Easter season as well.
ReplyDeleteI thank god for the TRUTH. the WHOLE TRUTH, and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, not some of this WATERED DOWN versions of the truth, where all they talk about is the Love of God (which is definitely important) but we also need to know what God expects from us, how to LIVE for God, what He considers abominations so that we can stay away from those things which are not of God, and so on. Too many people have the idea that if they are "good people" that He will accept them into Heaven even though they don't have a relationship with Him or focus on Him. They might attend church, but their focus is not truly on Him. They just go through the motions. OOPS! I got on my soap box! Sorry, I let you get back to teaching. LOL!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless,
PJ
PJ,
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad to see people who hypocrically serve Him without having a personal relationship with Him. I thank the Lord for His gracious intervention in the lives of all those who have placed their faith in Him. Lord bless.
Hosannas in the Highest Mountains and the Lowest VAlleys that Our Lord Jesus Christ IS indeed resurrected from the dead, victor over the grave for ALL WHO BELIEVE ON HIM!
ReplyDeleteHosanna to the King! Lord bless you.
