SIH’s Think On These Things: 1 Cor 15:24-26

1 Cor 15:24-26  Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.  For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.  The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Paul now moves our attention from the resurrection of Christ (at His first coming) to the final resurrection of both believers and the lost (at His second coming).

At the second coming of Christ, His position as Sovereign Lord over all will be revealed. One of the ways His sovereignty will be made known is by the final resurrection.  The final resurrection will prove that He holds the authority over both spiritual and physical death.

Christ won the victory over death at His first coming.  His crucifixion and His resurrection are the basis for that victory.  But at the final resurrection, He will clearly display His victory over death.  This will take place in two ways:

  1. When the believer’s body will be raised, glorified and enter eternal existence with God, the world will acknowledge He is Victor over both spiritual and physical death.

  2. Likewise, when those who have not trusted in Him will be resurrected and consigned    to eternal existence in the Lake of Fire will also prove He has won the victory over death.

As we think about our coming resurrection and the blessings connected to it, let’s also keep in mind that it is only because He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords that we can receive these future blessings!

May the Lord bless each one of us as we “Think On These Things”.

  1. Hey Rob! Very well said! My first thought of His Final Resurrection is Joyful for me, yet sorrowful for those who have not understood how important it is to accept Christ without hesitation. We know not the hour of which He comes and we must be ready. It is so hard for me to fathom that there are those out there who actually believe "this is all there is" We're born, we die and nothing more. How can we reach those people who are so set in this belief? I know that we are not suppose to worry, that we are to cast all of our cares upon God, but I feel such a burning in my heart to make EVERYONE understand what they are missing out on if they don't live for God. That this is not a free ride, and that there will be consequences if they don't Repent, be Baptised, and LIVE for Him. Just being a "good person" won't cut it, and my heart goes out to those who are not confronted or told about the truth. That even though God is Love, I also think of Him as TOUGH Love, because He created us, so I know He loves us ALL, yet when we rebel against Him, or people don't know of Him, There are consequences. Ignorance is no excuse nowadays, there are too many ways to find out about Him. I also know that God says in His Word something about at one time He winked at ignorance, but no more.

    God Bless,
    PJ

You are absolutely correct about the need for repentance and faith for the forgiveness of sin. When we are baptized, it simply proves that our faith is a genuine faith. Baptism is a fruit of true savation, it is not necessary for salvation. Thanks again for your comments. Lord bless you.

  5. I am hearing those glorious phrases of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus right now, in reading this very celebratory post: "King of Kings and Lord of Lords". No wonder the then King of England stood when the premiere of Handel's Messiah reached this chorus! Proper recognition of an earthly king for the King of all Kings!

  6. Granbee,

Your comments are very interesting... I had no idea this took place! Our Lord does deserve all praise even from the Kings of this world.
