Joh 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
As we are all aware, the gospels (Matthew through John) contain the accounts of the events that took place during the earthly ministry of Christ including the many miracles we have looked at in our series. The above verse is found as a conclusion to the book of John. It is given to us as a reminder that the four gospels do not really begin to contain all of the many wonderful works and teachings of Christ that took place during His earthly ministry.
I believe that, based upon this verse, we can safely assume that Christ performed many other miracles that were not recorded in the gospels and, therefore, not included in our study of the miracles of Christ. What has been recorded is what He desired for us to know. So in that sense, this has been a complete series on His miracles.
My only last thoughts to our series are these… all of the earthly physical miracles of Christ should never dwarf the importance and supremacy of His spiritual workings. These earthly miracles were performed for many reasons but, in every case, they were performed to teach us about the person of Christ and His spiritual workings on behalf of sinful, needy, mankind.
I believe the greatest of all the miracles that Christ has, and will, perform is the salvation of a lost soul. You have God, motivated by love, allowing the sacrifice of Himself on behalf of those who rebelled against Him, hated Him, and purposely worked to attempt to defeat Him. This was our condition before He brought us to Himself.
Eph 2:11-22…. Wherefore remember, that ye [being] in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us]; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone]; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
This is the greatest miracle performed by Christ… the salvation of His people. Let us be forever in awe of this wondrous miracle He has performed, and be living sacrifices for Him. This, after all, is our reasonable service.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Rom 12:1-2)
