“SIH’s Think On These Things: 1Cor 6:20a”

1Cor 6:20 (KJV)

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Paul, in the precious verse, taught us that our physical bodies are meant to worship, honor and glorify our God through the indwelling Holy Spirit.  He went on to remind us that our physical life is not ours to use selfishly, but is actually the possession of God. God has given us our physical life to use for His service.  Keeping these two thoughts in mind, Paul, then continues by saying… “For ye are bought with a price”.

Not only is our body and spirit created and given to us by God, but they have been purchased through the shed blood of Christ on the cross…

Heb 9:11-12 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us].

Peter supports the teachings of Paul by reminding us that, based upon this great act of self-sacrifice on our behalf, we need to serve the Lord with all our body and spirit…

1Pet 1:15-21 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.  And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear:  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers;  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Folks, realizing that God is our Creator (we owe Him our physical life) and our Savior (we owe Him our spiritual life)… should we not be motivated, by all He has done for us, to happily serve Him and live our lives as a living sacrifice for His honor and glory?

As we enter our day, if the Lord calls upon us to give of ourselves, let’s willingly sacrifice knowing we owe our all to Him.

May the Lord bless us as we “Think On These Things”.
