SIH’s Think On These Things: Isaiah 6:1-8 Conclusion

We have now finished our devotional series on the two-fold calling (to salvation and to service) of Isaiah…

Isa 6:1-8  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.  (2)  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.  (3)  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.  (4)  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.  (5)  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.  (6)  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:  (7)  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.  (8)  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

In conclusion, I would like to point out the basic theme that I can see throughout the entire account… Through the act of salvation the Lord changes our standing before Him, our lifestyle on earth and our eternal destiny.  This is what salvation is all about.

Isaiah was a man who was separated from God due to his sinful, rebellious condition.  He was incapable of gaining forgiveness for his sins of his own merit or actions.  In spite of himself, Isaiah was chosen by God to be adopted into the family of God, to be used as His instrument to minister for His glory, and finally to live in His presence for an eternity.

Has the Lord ever intervened in your life and blessed you in these ways?

2Cor 5:17-21 (KJV)

Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech [you] by us: we pray [you] in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.  For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

May the Lord bless us as we “Think On These Things”.
